Foundation slab

Due to its material properties, Styrodur® is particularly suitable for the external insulation of building components in contact with the ground, known as perimeter insulation. The low water absorption, high compressive strength and rot-proof nature of the green XPS rigid foam boards enable thermal insulation under buildings and on the outside of basement walls in contact with the ground.

Styrodur can even be installed under load-bearing foundation slabs and in groundwater areas.

  • Installation in up to 3 layers up to max. 300 mm total thickness
  • In groundwater up to max. 7 m
  • Up to 20 % of the design value of the normal stress of the associated load case can be transferred as horizontal forces via Styrodur (for single-layer installation)
