Inverted roof
The flat roof insulation in the form of an inverted roof impresses with its quick and easy installation. The insulation layer made of Styrodur® permanently protects the underlying waterproofing layer from harmful environmental influences, in particular changing temperatures and mechanical loads.
Until now, inverted roofs could only be insulated in two layers with individual approval, making them even more energy-efficient. The German Institute for Building Technology (DIBt) has now approved two-layer installation in gravelled inverted roofs. Sampling and long-term tests on existing inverted roofs in Germany and Austria have shown that Styrodur retains its mechanical and physical properties virtually unchanged over a very long period of time. The use of a water-draining and diffusion-open separating layer largely prevents the formation of a permanent water film between the board layers. Excessive moisture accumulation in the lower board layer, which can lead to a reduction in thermal insulation, is therefore not to be feared.
